Oracle Retail (Retek) Project Manager

Location: Canada, United States and International

Nature and Scope

The Oracle Retail (Retek) Project Managers is responsible for managing the overall implementation of a Oracle Retail (Retek) systems implementation. The Oracle Retail (Retek) Project Managers work with the executive steering committee, key stakeholders and business users to oversee the details of the project including budget, schedule, objectives and scope.

Relationships

The Oracle Retail (Retek) Project Managers reports to the Engagement Manager and may have a matrix relationship with his/her counterpart on the client side.

Reporting to the Oracle Retail (Retek) Project Managers are the functional and technical team members.

The Project Manager maintains relationships with all AI and client staff.

Responsibilities

  • Manages all aspects of project deliverables as well as coordinate the timely delivery as set out in the project plan.
  • Creates Statement of Requirements and Project Scope documentation for projects.
  • Prepares project and risk plans capturing business and user requirements.
  • Provides direction for creation of detailed project requirements.
  • Designs templates to support object-oriented SDLC process methodologies
  • Establishes project and resource management plans.
  • Works with business process owners and developers to develop logical & functional designs.
  • Organizes process teams for analysis
  • Identifies and develops plans to mitigate risks.
  • Manages risks, resources, budgets
  • Manages project team through the design and implementation phases.
  • Defines project milestones and assign team members to tasks.
  • Creates project status and implementation progress reports.
  • Chairs weekly status meetings with project staff.
  • Acts as a mentor to less experienced practitioners,
  • Ensures that application development and requirements are met by providing day-to-day analysis and support.
  • Raises concerns of each stakeholder to the group.
  • Provides critical thinking skills and strong process background in resolving client process challenges.
  • Provides direction to team members in the attainment of project goals.

Qualifications

  • University degree with a minimum of nine years' industry experience managing technology projects in a consulting environment.
  • Over five years Project Management experience with SDLC methodology, process modeling. PMI certification would be an asset.
  • Previous retail experience and implementing large ERP package systems using formal methodology. Knowledge of retail merchandise management, supply chain, and distribution of business is a definite asset. Business travel to retail sites is a requirement. Preference will be given to candidates with Oracle Retail (Retek), JDA, SAP Retail, Island Pacific or other retail merchandising systems would be an asset.
  • Experience in implementing large ERP package systems.
  • Project management skills including budgeting, resource assignment, scheduling, and progress tracking, estimate and plan project timelines, monitor project progress.
  • Experience in managing projects (administration, implementation, testing and delivery of packaged or custom software).
  • Solid experience in project management tools, including MS Project, and other MS Office software.
  • Extensive industry knowledge of project management practices, systems delivery methodologies, tools, techniques and trends.
  • Possess an understanding of IT operations management practices and techniques, as well as, an in-depth working knowledge of business needs analysis. A basic level of knowledge of the technical infrastructure required to implement solutions would be an asset.
  • Practical experience with requirements and business analysis methodologies.
