Home Improvements with Active Intelligence
The
Company
RONA is the largest
distributor and retailer of hardware,
home improvement and gardening products
in Canada. Together with its dealer-owners,
the Company operates a network of close
to 540 stores of various sizes and formats
and employs over 16,000 across the country.
With sales of $3 billion a year, the RONA
store network currently occupies some
10 million square feet of retail space.
The
Challenge
RONA's exponential growth,
combined with their recent acquisitions
had increased the complexity of their
information systems environment. In order
to properly analyze the data from RONA's
existing applications and the data from
their recent acquisitions required the
development of retail data warehouse to
consolidate their data into a single bi-lingual
data repository which would then be accessible
across the organization to both their
French and English employees. In addition
to internal access, stores and suppliers
would also require access so as to gain
unprecedented visibility to inventory
levels. In addition to data consolidation,
RONA also required a multi-dimensional
analysis capability to provide greater
insight into trends and product variations.
The
Solution
RONA turned to Active
Intelligence as their prime systems integrator
to lead a full systems implementation
of the Oracle Retail's (Retek) Data Warehouse solution
(RDW v10), the primary data repository
and analytical tool for Retek's offering,
Oracle Retail (Retek) 10. Active Intelligence will also
provide RONA with bi-lingual reporting
capabilities for their RDW solution to
serve both the English and French RONA
user communities.
Active Intelligence was also selected
to provide Custom Modification to support
bilingual requirements, Design and Development
of the custom mod was in accordance to
Oracle Retail's (Retek) custom solutions group. We also
led the package evaluation process with
Retail business consultants for a Merchandising
and Data Warehouse solution, as well as
providing Application training to project
team.
